My Starbucks Philippines 2018 Planner

@EVERYONE-- I totally understand now.

When I was younger, I had a few not-so-lovely opinions on Starbucks planners. I thought they were overrated, sheepish, and generally not worth all the trouble. To a very mild, yet still quite shameful, extent, I also had not-so-lovely opinions on people who were wildly in love with them. Then again, I was at the height of my very angry "I will over-assert my uniqueness to the death, because I'm a unicorn (and you're not), and I'm more unique than you, you, and you, combined!"-phase. Oh, to be young and narrow-minded. Very narrow-minded. I didn't actively commit myself to Starbucks sticker-collecting. I wasn't one of those people who were really waiting for sticker season to drop. I (thankfully!) outgrew my not-so-lovely opinions, but at the same time, I wasn't in it (10^6)%.
My sticker-collecting started with a coffee run when my cousin and I had to take our uncle to the doctor.. and then one day, my dad bought snacks for my sister and me.. and then I realized that my usual coffee runs turned into Starbucks runs.. Pretty soon, on my last three stickers, I found myself buying fraps for our household staff after I found out that our maid has never had a Starbucks anything. Then my stickers were complete, hooray!

I now understand how and why Starbucks planners get so much hype-- because collecting the stickers is so much fun after all! While working on my stickers, I actually started paying attention to the Starbucks menu, and not just to the drinks that contained the words matcha, green, or vanilla (but to be fair, I did have the Vanilla Nougat Latte-- twice). Though slightly utilitarian and self-serving, I like to believe that Starbucks-ing made me a bit more willing to be generous. I don't just mean this in a total material way, but I mean, generous with time and effort. Well, I have a brand new planner. If there's anything I can afford at this point, it's to be generous. Oh by the way, if you're wondering what happened to my not-so-lovely opinions, well.. People grow up, and people realize how ridiculous it is to define others by what they like or what they don't like. Starbucks planner or no Starbucks planner, it's what we do with a fresh new year that always counts. People are never exactly the same as they were the year before. I'll leave it at that.. For now. In the meantime, have a whatever this is frap!
